Additional Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift Information

Return to Ivalice in the latest installment of the legendary FINAL FANTASY TACTICS series. Summer vacation has begun for all but one unlucky student. Alone in the school library, Luso solemnly toils away the punishment his mischief has brought him. It is there that he finds a dusty, mysterious book. Opening it, he reads aloud the only text it contains: “One is fated to fill these barren pages. Know you his name?” Scrawling his name onto the next blank page, Luso unwittingly begins the first chapter of an adventure all his own.

What Customers Say About Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift:

I won't get into a long, comprehensive review on Amazon. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance was an exceptional strategy game for Gamecube. The presentation and story both seem slightly more juvenile and cartoon-like than the original Tactics, but are probably consistent with the "Advanced" series. Moreover, I am only hours into the game. This seems to be a light-hearted romp, so just prepare yourself for that before buying.I give this 4 stars because it doesn't strike me as an epic and ingratiating story, and while the game is engrossing, it isn't quite sucking me in as other games do - particularly excellent strategic RPGs. But I will comment briefly on my experience so far.I'm a long-time Role-playing game (RPG) fan, and the original Final Fantasy Tactics for Ps1 sparked my specific interest in Strategic RPGs. People are paid to do that at places like Gamespot and IGN, among others. However, other Atlus-style strategy RPGs served only to disappoint me.I'm only 8 hours into this game, but I am happy to say that Final Fantasy Tactics A2 seems to capture the essence of the original Final Fantasy Tactics, at least from a game-play perspective.

Unfortunately, this seems like a niche market. where choices and variety are few. Besides, not every story needs to be as dark and foreboding as the Ps1 Final Fantasy Tactics. In summary, this would be an entertaining gift for a teen who likes trying RPGs, most Final Fantasy fans, or any micro-manager who owns a DS.

A deep and compelling story and great game-play. The game-play/character progression is incredibly deep. I come to Final Fantasy again and again looking for 2 things. The original Final Fantasy Tactics and it's subsequent PSP remake is probably my favorite game I have ever played. I am a fan of Final Fantasy. I would recommend Fire Emblem ahead of this one if you have a DS. So here is where things get strange. Based on my first couple minutes, I had the impression that this was an attempt at making FF Tactics for kids.

I can't imagine why they decided to marry a childish storyline with such a deep game. The story is lame. I have played most of the main series titles. 6-7 races, 50 classes, hundreds of abilities to learn. This game is an odd combination to me. It is childish. Very odd choice to me. If you have a PSP, Final Fantasy Tactics and Jeanne D'arc are way better games.

I need to first say that I loved the FF Tactics Advance game to pieces. I like that the graphics are a bit better (although with an upgraded system I guess I should expect that) & I like that the battle laws are displayed on the top part of the screen where it can be easily seen & remembered, where the previous incarnation made you jump through hoops in order to look them back up again. Fans of FF will be more than likely to love it. (However soon after I was grabbed by the desire to replay the 2nd Golden Sun game & try to get to the special level, which trumped any FF playing). In any case, I figured that it was a safe bet I'd probably like this game. Me. I will admit it- I put it off for a good while because I was afraid that it'd be too close to the other game & I'd get bored by it. I spent hours on it & even kept playing afterwards in an attempt to finish all of the quests & completely beat the game. Fans of Tactics will love this game.

That fear hasn't showed yet, although I will admit that I'm not as enchanted with this version as I was with the Advance version. Never fear though- there's still a lot of interesting things to do & see in this game. People who aren't fan of turn based RPGs may not be as enchanted. I'm a long time fan of turn based RPGs, so I'm in hog heaven with this game.

A great game, better than the first. If your a fan of turn based RPGs then you'll love this game, even if you aren't a final fantasy fan.

Fun game but repetitive, if you liked the first one you will like this one too. The cons are the auction house (because once you beat the 4-5 regions its done, it just repeates the prizes)and some of the skills you can't steal (learn). Worth getting if you like this type of game.
